About Radio in Schools



Radio in Schools is an independent, not for profit organisation. It offers a safe podcasting platform to allow schools, children and a new generation of listeners to get their voice heard in their own communities. Radio in Schools aims to:

Provide high quality, professional and engaging tools, resources and advice for schools, teachers, students and parents

Ensure technical barriers to entry for all remain low

Promote speaking, listening and creativity across the curriculum and beyond; with links to Literacy Frameworks, the National Curriculum and Creative & Media Diplomas

Provide links to local radio stations and the professional radio industry


In a worldwide first, users can create content online through the easy to use Virtual Studio and share it via the web. There is no need to download and install software and no technical knowledge is required. The Virtual Studio uses AudioEnable technology, developed by Nomos Media.

Radio in Schools is aimed at infant, primary & secondary schools, colleges, universities and youth organisations across the UK.

Radio in Schools won the Arqiva Social Action Initiative Award 2006 and was nominated for an NDL Radio Academy Promotions and Marketing Award 2009.

Radio in Schools is supported by Global Radio and the Heart Network, TLT Solicitors, BT, The National Literacy Trust and The University of the West of England.
